Next Energy’s 2023 Highlights

When we closed for Christmas at the end of 2022, we remarked that 2023 looked set to deliver a varied workload and our prediction has certainly come true. This year has been one of our busiest yet and our team is thriving on the variety, the deadlines and the customer interactions that this year has blessed us with.

It has been a hugely successful year for our business, and we are delighted to have played a part in the lives of thousands of people in our local area, making a huge difference to their comfort levels and their budgets through the installation of energy efficiency measures such as insulation and solar panels. We have secured a deal worth £40m to deliver energy efficiency improvements to homes across the north of England.

Government grant scheme installations

We have approved installers for a number of government grant schemes, including ECO4, the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, the Great British Insulation Scheme, and the Social Housing Decarbonisation Scheme.

Our contracts with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Plus Dane Housing, Livv Housing Group and many more have proved to be fruitful collaborations which have allowed us to deliver the renewable energy solutions that we believe represent the future of Great Britain to householders across the North West of the country, bringing them energy security, comfort and financial certainty.

Social values

Social values remain a cornerstone of our operation, so we have sought every possible opportunity to give back to those in our local community. At the start of the year, we were delighted to give young Freddie and his family the opportunity to watch a Liverpool FC game at home. Freddie was being treated at the Alder Hey children’s hospital and his day out was a fitting reward for the stoicity and bravery that he has shown through every part of his treatment.

We have supported the Knowsley Foodbank with donations to help support local people who have been struggling to afford the rapidly escalating cost of daily life.

Helping the next generation to thrive, we donated £3,500 to St. Paschal Baylon School In Liverpool to fund new library books and an athletics track and later in the year, were delighted to be invited to present at the Roby Park Primary School Career’s Day. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with both schools and have been blown away by the commitment and enthusiasm shown by children and staff alike at both establishments. Our future is surely in safe hands here!

Reflecting On a Year of Kindness: Our Impactful Achievements:

We donated £5000 to 6 schools each across the boroughs of Bolton, Salford and Wigan as we were working closely with Greater Manchester Combined Authority over the next few years to increase the energy efficiency of their residents. The schools were chosen based on how many children were claiming the school meals, so those schools in deprived areas. The schools have advised they will be using the money for school uniforms, teaching facilities and equipment, beds, winter coats and wellies etc.

£5000 has been donated to Rydal Boxing Gym in Kirkdale, Liverpool. The students went to Italy to compete and have put the money to good use in their gym which helps keep kids fit & occupied.

Next Energy have also donated £500 to Cash for Kids on Mission Christmas. We did this through our close contact Solen Energy UK who are raising the funds for the charity.

Lastly, we donated 600 selections boxes plus £240 for the Kirkby Christmas Crusade. Every year the KCC go round the streets of Kirkby with Santa in a sleigh and give away selection boxes to the kids of Kirkby. Again this event helps the children of Kirkby and those in need to celebrate Christmas.

Local Labour Party

We have formed close ties with our local Labour Party, whose aims and values align closely with our own strategic objectives.

We believe that this working relationship, which has been nurtured through attendance at the Labour Party conference and the Labour Party’s Business Breakfast, will continue to grow and develop over the coming years as we work together to achieve our mutual vision of a green, safe and secure future for all those living in our wonderful country.

Awards

No end of year recap would be complete without touching on the awards ceremonies that we have attended. We were thrilled to be shortlisted for the Company of The Year category at the Unlock Net Zero Live Awards ceremony in the summer, followed shortly thereafter by the National Energy Efficiency Awards, where we sponsored the National Funding Provider of the Year category. Our heartfelt congratulations go to City Energy.

We were delighted to be nominated for three categories at this same event: National Renewable Heat Installer and Contractor of the Year, National Multi-Measure Project of the Year and National Insulation & Fabric Project of the Year.

We were also nominated for two categories at the Knowsley Business Awards, namely Contractor of the Year, which we were overjoyed to win and Corporate Social Responsibility, in which we were highly commended.

Success at these awards is a testament to the fantastic teamwork and the outstanding effort of every member of our team. We look forward to pushing for even greater success in all of our endeavours in 2024.

Next Energy HQ has moved

Our office move is now complete, and we are thoroughly enjoying our new open plan accommodation at Next Energy HQ. Gone are the two floors and we are enjoying all being sat together on one floor. This is a significant move for our team and one which we believe will deliver incredible efficiencies, allow closer working relationships to be forged and enhance our already very strong inter-departmental collaborations.

So, from our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We hope your break is peaceful and warm, and we look forward to being here for you in 2024.
