Whilst Next Energy Solutions have became one of the most trusted & reliable specialists within the renewable energy sector, directors Lee McNally and Michael Madigan haven’t forgotten their roots, ensuring that social values are the core for Next Energy.
What is social value?
Social value is the term used to define the wider community or public benefit created in the delivery of a service. It is something that benefits others such as fundraising, donations etc, that doesn’t benefit the business itself.
Through group initiatives and collaboration with our clients, our social value activities help support local, economic and environmental wellbeing in local communities of which we operate.
Next Energy currently work with several charities such as Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, food banks and schools across the North West region and was recently featured on the regional news for the donation of a new vehicle to a local community centre to assist with their programme of providing meals to the vulnerable in the community.

Next Energy in partnership with Liverpool City Region Combined Authority
Working hard within the region to tackle fuel poverty and reduce emissions, Next Energy provides heating, insulation and renewable solutions to help households most in need.
At a time when an increased number of people are at risk of fuel poverty, due to uncertain rising prices and supply delays, it ensures people can continue to heat their homes without sacrificing other necessities.
Established in 2016, Next Energy supplies renewable solutions such as air-source heat pumps, solar PV and wall insulation, helping clients save on energy costs. It is funded through various the government schemes, set up to make homes warmer while reducing the emissions and environmental impact.
We work in partnership with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority helping achieve a goal of net zero carbon emissions by 2040.
Local Employment
When managing directors Lee McNally and Michael Madigan founded Next Energy in 2016, a commitment was made to attract local applications for employment from the Knowsley borough of Merseyside where the business will be based, realizing that employment is the number one local social value priority.
As the business grows each year, Next Energy aim to contribute to local employment as much as possible and aim employing a minimum of 25% of the workforce from areas such as Kirkby, Prescot and Huyton.
Entering in 2022, we are far surpassing the targeted ratio of local employment, with a massive 53% of our employee’s residing in the Knowsley area. We believe due to the business’s rapid growth in recent years, Next Energy have, and continue, to greatly contribute to local economic improvement and opportunities for the local community.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
Every month during the 2021/22 Premier League season, Next Energy provide an unforgettable match day experience for a deserving and brave patient of Alder Hey Children’s Hospital to go, with their family, and watch Liverpool Football Club at Anfield.
The chosen beneficiaries by Alder Hey get to enjoy a three-course meal at one of the club’s hospitality lounges before kick-off and get to meet and greet a former Liverpool player as they enjoy their food and drinks.
At a particular experience in February 2022, a local mum finally got to take her special daughter, Betty Batt, on their first family day out in two years. Karen Batt was quoted as saying “The best day and our first day out as a whole family since January 2020! Super special, thank you so much!”.
An Hour for Others
Teaming up with local charity, An Hour for Others, Next Energy provide over £1,000.00 worth of children’s coats and jackets each winter.
An Hour for Others aims to bring communities together to inspire positive change for each other through the power of love, unity and kindness. Thousands of vulnerable people benefit from this and receive help, advice and make new friends within the group.
It is through visiting people’s homes who suffer in fuel poverty that Next Energy experience first-hand those who suffer from the cold and do not have further disposable income for purchasing warm clothes in the colder months of the year.
We found An Hour for Others as the perfect partner in providing help to those children and began the ‘Warm Coats for Kids’ mission.
Swanside Community Centre
Growing up in Huyton, Lee McNally spent most of his time at the youth club that was held at the Swanside Community centre, he’d often attend sessions with current head of projects Anthony Daly.
The Swanside Community Centre is well known for helping others as they established the ‘lifting hearts scheme’ where employees would cook food for those in the neighbourhood who for one reason or another can’t go shopping or cook for themselves.
McNally and Daly donated a van to the community centre to ensure that the deliveries were more efficient as they were able to fit more into the van as they previously used an employee’s car. Along with cooking meals and dropping them off, the community centre picks up prescriptions, do food shops and go and check in on the vulnerable or elderly people.
The pair have stated that they will cover the cost of the food shop and drivers wage so the scheme can keep on running, additionally they have generously donated the funds to build a new log cabin which comes with disability access to make it inclusive to everyone.
