New Year, New Central Heating
We all have New Year’s resolutions – yet we’re all guilty of rarely keeping them. But with gas central heating grants, there’s no reason you can’t make 2022 the year you finally commit to your home improvements promise with a brand-new boiler.
Benefits of New Boilers
With busy lives and places to be, the last thing you want is to put a dampener on your day when your central heating fails to start one crisp winter morning. Not only is it impractical, but ineffective heating is also a hazard to health, with respiratory illnesses thriving in damp, cold conditions. In addition, existing chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma are exacerbated by a dank environment. Acute infections such as pneumonia can also surface and plague residents as a result of poor central heating.
While a first time central heating installation may seem a costly and daunting task, the benefits of a new central heating system vastly outweigh any cons – plus you may also qualify for gas central heating grants. It’s estimated that 15,000 households around Liverpool live in fuel poverty which is defined as being where more than 10% of income is spent trying to keep a home warm. New boilers are more energy efficient, which also means cheaper bills for you.
Central Heating Grants
Around 30,000 people in Liverpool alone are predicted to be eligible for gas central heating grants. With numerous grants available, it can be difficult to navigate the terms and conditions of eligibility. Generally, if your boiler is over six years old, household income is below £20,000 and you’re receiving one or more state benefits, then you may be eligible for the Liverpool Boiler Grant or a National Boiler Grant.
The benefits of the grant mean you need not worry about the costs – whether you’re a first time central heating customer or a repeat client with an older boiler. The grant scheme is run in partnership between the Government and leading energy suppliers, including Next Energy. Many households simply don’t have the funds available for the sudden unexpected cost of a boiler replacement. Like all equipment, boilers have a life expectancy. At an average of 10-15 years expectancy, the performance of boilers decreases with age, hence it’s vital to either repair or replace boilers to avoid sky-high running costs, damp and ineffective heating.
