Frequently Asked Questions
Retrofit works are improvements to make your home warmer, safer, and more energy efficient, such as insulation, solar panels, upgraded heating systems, and ventilation improvements. They aim to reduce energy bills, improve comfort, meet environmental standards, and tackle damp, mould, and poor air quality.
Most installations take between 1–5 days depending on the measure. You’ll get a written programme of works, at least 7 days’ notice, and regular updates. In most cases you can stay in your home, though some rooms may be temporarily inaccessible.
Some noise and dust is possible, but disruption will be minimised and cleaned up daily. You may need to move belongings from work areas.
Next Energy and approved contractors will carry out the works. All will have ID and follow health and safety policies. The upgrades are fully funded, so there is no cost to you.
A Retrofit Co-ordinator will discuss your package of upgrades. Some measures may be required by law, but you can raise any questions or concerns.
You’ll be shown how to use new systems and given easy-read instructions. Your energy bills should reduce, and you can contact your Customer Liaison Officer or Next Energy’s Southway Contract mailbox/phone number for any issues.
