Next Energy Awarded Contract with Greater Manchester City Region

We are delighted to announce our new working relationship with the Greater Manchester Combined Authority, as we have secured a new contract to deliver government-funded energy efficiency measures to properties within the Salford, Wigan and Bolton areas of Greater Manchester. The contract is set for a duration of three and a half years with a provision to extend for a further year, subject to mutual agreement.

Under this contract, we will deliver energy efficiency upgrades to properties within these areas to the benefit of tenants and homeowners alike, under three separate government schemes.

ECO4

The ECO4 scheme will run until the 31st of March 2026 and aims to upgrade homes whose EPC is in bands D to G through the installation of insulation, upgrading inefficient or outdated heating systems, and incorporating renewable energy upgrades where appropriate.

ECO+

The ECO+ scheme will also run through to the spring of 2026 and is designed to deliver rapid efficiencies in terms of energy efficiency to households who are on low incomes in order to reduce their energy bills and reduce fuel poverty rates in the region.

LA Flex

The LA Flex scheme allows the Local Authority to refer private tenants and householders for energy efficiency upgrades where it considers them to be living in fuel poverty, recognises that they are on low incomes, or determines that they are particularly vulnerable to the negative effects of a cold home.

Our Responsibilities

It was clear from initial discussions with Greater Manchester that their team has serious ambitions of achieving netzero and we are so excited to be part of this and work with such a reputable and progressive group of local authorities.

We have significant experience in delivering installations and upgrades under the previous ECO schemes and look forward to continuing to work proactively towards building a better future for everyone not only surrounding Liverpool but now the Greater Manchester cCity region too. We will continue to ensure that eligible households are identified and referred, supporting applicants with LA engagement and scheme applications to ensure that the funds will be accessed and utilised in the most appropriate way.

We will continue to promote the work that we do through appropriate channels to ensure that householders within our areas are aware that we are here to help them, and our office team are well versed in the requirements of the scheme, enabling them to provide an efficient first point of contact for any interested potential applicants who would like our help in upgrading the heating systems, insulation or draught proofing in their homes.

Social Values

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority’s social values align well with our own so we are delighted that this contractual arrangement will continue into the future. We will work alongside the Local Authority to ensure that value for money is achieved in all installations that we undertake and that we minimise waste and pollution, making the best use of our people and vehicles to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as installing measures that allow householders to become more energy efficient and reduce their home carbon emissions.

All of the social value requirements of the scheme resonate with our own mission statement very clearly, and we already demonstrate compliance with them, as well as a genuine desire always to do our best to serve our local community.

Social values are at the heart of everything that we do at Next Energy and we believe passionately that schemes such as this are vital to improve the health and well-being of our local residents. They create jobs for local people, including trainees and apprentices who are just starting their careers and will result in a cleaner planet for the next generation.
