2022 has been a busy year for the Next Energy team, but it has been a successful year, despite soaring energy prices and the cost of living crisis monopolising the headlines. We are delighted to be able to take this opportunity to showcase some of the excellent work that we have delivered this year.
How We Helped People
We have stuck close to our social values, always putting the customer first and ensuring that the delivery of our services has been to the highest possible standards, with minimum disruption for maximum gain. We have successfully delivered 4,128 energy saving measures across thousands of UK homes, aiming to improve the standard of living for those families by helping them to reduce their bills and creating a more comfortable environment for them to live in.
In March, we completed our final ECO3 delivery to several utility companies on schedule, following four years of participation in the scheme. This programme has improved the energy efficiency of thousands of households who had been in fuel poverty.
We were selected as approved installers for the Local Authority Delivery (LAD Scheme) Stage 2 for the Liverpool City region where, by the end of June, we successfully improved the energy efficiency of a large number of homes occupied by low-income families, raising the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) ratings of those properties to at least a D and supporting the Government in progressing its commitment to net zero by 2050.
Award Success in 2022
We were delighted to be nominated at the Energy Awards ceremony on Friday the 14th October in Birmingham and absolutely blown away to be awarded the National Insulation and Fabric Installer of the Year award. We were commended not only for our high quality work and for the effective application of our ideas, but, most pleasingly, for our outstanding levels of customer service. However, these were not the only awards we won this year. We also won the National Renewable Installer of the Year in February as well as the National Fabric Installer in October. We are absolutely delighted that all of our hard work is being noticed and we strive for even more awards in 2023.
We always believe in giving back to our local community and have therefore ensured that despite the challenging financial times experienced this year, with increases in the cost of raw materials and labour, we have continued to donate to the Alder Hay children’s hospital, local food banks and foundation beds in the North West region. In addition, we have donated a vehicle to a local community centre to allow them to provide meals on wheels to vulnerable and house-bound people in our community.
How We Have Developed in 2022
We are a local company and enjoy creating jobs and providing work for local people. Our participation in numerous Government energy efficiency initiatives and our dedication to helping the British public to combat rising energy prices have led to significant growth in our portfolio, paving the way for an increase in employment, with a 37% increase in employees seen this year which included a new apprenticeship intake. We very much look forward to helping all of our new recruits to shine, develop their skills and to enjoy a bright career in this fast-moving industry. We are sure that with our support, training and guidance, they will be as passionate about building a better Britain for all of its residents as we are.
Looking Forward to 2023
As we approach the start of a new year, we are well placed to continue in the same way that we leave this year, with contracts already in place for ECO4, LAD, SHDF and more. 2023 looks as though it will be as busy, if not busier than this year has been. At Next Energy, we thrive on a varied workload and that certainly appears to be what we will be facing in the coming year. We anticipate a greater number of applications to the Government grant schemes as the cost of living crisis continues to bite and people take a proactive approach to handling their finances. Many are investing in solutions for reducing their energy bills without creating an uncomfortable living environment, and we look forward to helping them to do that.
We would like to thank all utility companies, local authorities and housing associations for choosing Next Energy to be their contractor in 2022, and last but not least, thank all of our hard-working staff for continuing to excel in their roles and put Next Energy where they are today.
