A new partnership between Next Energy and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is opening up more opportunities for local residents to improve their homes. By working together, Next Energy and GMCA are making it easier for people across Greater Manchester to access the amazing benefits of the ECO4 scheme.

This collaboration means that eligible households can now check their ECO4 eligibility, apply for ECO4, and take advantage of a wide range of energy efficiency upgrades. With support from this partnership, more families can enjoy government-backed energy grants that help make homes warmer, healthier, and more affordable.

What Is the ECO4 Scheme?

The ECO4 scheme (Energy Company Obligation Phase 4) is a national programme designed to help eligible UK households improve their home’s energy efficiency. It provides funding for essential upgrades, including home insulation grants, draught proofing, heating system upgrades, and renewable energy installations.

These improvements are available to households that meet certain criteria, that includes:

  • Households with an EPC rating of D, E, F, or G.
  • Those receiving qualifying benefits (e.g., Universal Credit, Pension Credit, Income Support, Child Tax Credits, Housing Benefit).
  • Vulnerable households, including those with health conditions worsened by cold homes, may also qualify through local authority “flex” rules.
  • Low-income households (those with a combined household income of £31,000 or less).

If you’re unsure about your ECO4 eligibility, contact Next Energy today for friendly advice and to see if you could benefit from a government grant. By reducing heat loss and cutting energy costs, the ECO4 scheme can help your family achieve real energy bills savings and enjoy greater comfort at home.
