We Partnered with Plus Dane Housing to deliver home upgrades in L8
Our team recently had a superb day out on-site with Plus Dane Housing, during which we collectively showcased our installations to Liverpool City Region Combined Authority and Onward Homes. We also met with some of the residents who have already benefited from the scheme. They confirmed that the measures we have installed have saved them significant sums on their energy bills and have kept their homes warm.
Next Energy has been working alongside Plus Dane Housing since 2023 to deliver energy efficiency measures to properties in the Liverpool L8 area. Expanding on the excellent work conducted through the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF), this additional £4 million worth of investment is enabling us to upgrade another 400 homes. Offering residents energy efficiency upgrades that will save them up to £567 a year on their energy bills and contributing to reduced carbon emissions from their properties.
Who benefits from this contract?
Plus Dane Housing focused on their properties in the Dickens Streets, Welsh Streets and Camelot Streets in Liverpool.
We start the process by completing a home retrofit survey, followed by installing the recommended improvement works to tackle fuel poverty, reduce harmful carbon emissions and improve residents’ comfort.
What energy efficiency measures are offered?
Qualifying homes are upgraded based on the outcome of their property survey, and the focus is to implement the most effective measures for each individual property. We consider the benefits of installing solar panels, internal wall insulation, loft insulation, underfloor insulation, and cavity wall insulation, as well as low cost improvements and upgrades such as smart heating controls.
Who is eligible for this scheme?
The aim of this scheme is to improve the energy performance of the least energy efficient properties in the Toxteth areas that are occupied by Plus Dane Housing residents.
Only properties that have an EPC of D or below are eligible for energy efficiency upgrades, and the team at Next Energy are tasked with bringing them up to at least a band C standard through the retrofit works. Our aim, as always, is to deliver the greatest possible improvement within the allowable budget, so we will recommend the upgrades that will make the biggest difference to each property on a case-by-case basis.
As all properties have subtle differences and are maintained to differing standards, there is no one-size-fits-all approach, hence the need for individual property surveys before work can begin.
